    The Internet of things or IoT is currently the burning topic in the field of electronics. We have been hearing about the forthcoming revolution of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) and resulting interconnectedness of smart home technology for years. So what’s the holdup? Why aren’t we all living in smart, connected homes by now? Part of the problem is too much competition, with not enough collaboration—there are tons of individual appliances and apps on the market, but few solutions to tie everything together into a single, seamless user experience.

    The radio helped us to hear, the television to see, the internet helped us to feel and here comes internet of things (IoT), which will help us to “touch”.

    The internet of things is a system, or we say ecosystem of information where not only humans but machines will interact with each other, sharing data, processing information, gaining knowledge about each other, creating clouds of intelligence and a world of wisdom.

    Internet of Things (IoT) is an ecosystem of connected physical objects that are accessible through the internet. The ‘thing’ in IoT could be a person with a heart monitor or an automobile with built-in-sensors, i.e. objects that have been assigned an IP address and have the ability to collect and transfer data over a network without manual assistance or intervention. The embedded technology in the objects helps them to interact with internal states or the external environment, which in turn affects the decisions taken.


    Outernet is bringing free internet to the world’s poor.

    The outernet is a device that can be used to provide the data connection to the remote areas. The device called lantern is used for receiving the data from satellites. For 60 percent of the world’s population, regular internet access is about as common as flying cars. Nearly 5 billion people today lack basic internet access either because they live in remote, rural areas or due to restrictive censorship on the part of the local government.

    But where the internet has failed, the Outernet hopes to succeed. It’s working to get a new breed of satellite-based communication off the ground, promising to give even the most remote corners of the globe access to the whole of humanity’s collective knowledge.

    The Outernet is the brainchild of the same-named New York-based tech company, a free content distribution system that would provide basic web access broadcast via a series of geostationary and LEO satellites, as well as cube sats using a combination of datacasting and User Datagram Protocols.


    The RFID stood for Radio Frequency Identification. It is new world’s substitute for Universal Product Code (UPC) Bar Code. RFID are generally Write once Read Many (WORM) devices. Imagine you go to a shopping mall; take the things you wanted and move out of the store. The RFID sends the message to your bank and cost of the product you bought is deducted from your account. So no more queue in shopping mall.


    Arduino is an Open-source-electronic-prototyping-base for simple used hardware and software in the field of microcontrolling. It is suitable to realize fascinating projects in a short time. Many of them can be found on Youtube under "Arduino“. It is mostly used by artists, designer or tinkers to realize creative ideas. But Arduino is also increasingly used by universities and schools to teach an interesting and simple beginning to the world of microcontrolling.


    The Li-Fi stood for Light fidelity. The technology is developed by University of Edinburgh’s Harold Haas. Li-Fi technology is a ground-breaking light-based communication technology, which makes use of light waves instead of radio technology to deliver data. Li-Fi is a Visible Light Communications (VLC) system. This means that it accommodates a photo-detector to receive light signals and a signal processing element to convert the data into ‘stream-able’ content. An LED light bulb is a semiconductor light source meaning that the constant current of electricity supplied to an LED light bulb can be dipped and dimmed, up and down at extremely high speeds, without being visible to the human eye.

    What happens in this technology is that the traditional Wi-Fi, which uses radio waves for information propagation is replaced by a bunch of LED’s that on-off, number of times in a second and supplying a digital signal to the mobile or other internet operating device. Benefit of this technology is that like radio waves, the light doesn’t cross the walls and hence, your neighbour couldn’t hack your Wi-Fi.


    A Raspberry Pi is a credit card-sized computer originally designed for education, inspired by the 1981 BBC Micro. Creator Eben Upton’s goal was to create a low-cost device that would improve programming skills and hardware understanding at the pre-university level. But thanks to its small size and accessible price, it was quickly adopted by tinkerers, makers, and electronics enthusiasts for projects that require more than a basic microcontroller.

    The Raspberry Pi is open hardware, with the exception of the primary chip on the Raspberry Pi, the Broadcomm SoC (System on a Chip), which runs many of the main components of the board–CPU, graphics, memory, the USB controller, etc. Many of the projects made with a Raspberry Pi are open and well-documented as well and are things you can build and modify yourself.
